Our Story
Timothy and Katherine first met each other in front of San Francisco City Hall on a brisk January evening in 2015. Katherine was wearing a navy cocoon sweater over a streak heather dress and olive wedges on her feet. Timothy was wearing a pea coat and flip flops over socks. They had been introduced shortly earlier via text message (like many other Millenials) and were about to make an exchange.
~
Months earlier, as he often does while traveling, Timothy had left a personal belonging at his friend's place in New Jersey - it was a simple black hooded sweatshirt. He requested for his friend Oli to mail it back to him, but after several months Oli instead opted to pass it to Katherine.
Katherine, a friend of Oli's in New Jersey, was about to embark on a journey to visit the West Coast for the first time, and was more than happy to take the hoodie and return it on his behalf.
After she arrived, Katherine reached out to Timothy via text message to arrange the exchange. They decided to meet in front of City Hall, and so there, in the dimly electrolier-lit gravel courtyard, spartanly adorned with rows of old, gnarly sycamore trees, Timothy and Katherine met, smiles abound. They greeted each other. She held out the hoodie for him to take.
"By the way," Katherine said, "today is my birthday."
"Happy birthday!" exclaimed Timothy.
Katherine asked, "This is my first time visiting San Francisco - what are some good places to visit?"
"Well, if you're hungry, there's a really good Vietnamese place nearby. But just so you know, I don't drink (anymore)," he offered.
"Well that's good, because neither do I!" she remarked.
The two then set off on what became an unexpectedly enjoyable evening out: sampling the local faire, going to an indie concert, and sharing stories about their mutual friend and introducer Oli. Katherine's visit was only for a few days, and when the night was over she and Timothy parted ways without knowing that their paths would eventually become inextricably intertwined.
The two did keep in touch, and when some time later Katherine moved to San Francisco for new opportunities, circumstances gave way for them to become involved, and thus began a multi-year journey of excitement, personal growth, and the unexpected. They spent enormous amounts of time together exploring the city, finding hidden gems, and toughing it out in an unforgiving neighborhood deep in the city's center.
Finally, after 5 years of love, tribulation, and everything in between, Timothy and Katherine decided to get married at the same place where they first met - San Francisco City Hall. The tail end of the pandemic dictated that the ceremony be small, and so under the stunning public expanse of a washed sienna Roman rotunda framing a massive, bauble-laden Christmas tree, Timothy and Katherine were officially married, vis-à-vis with but a handful of friends and family - some via FaceTime.
Now, in 2023, Timothy and Katherine wish to share and celebrate their marriage with you! They hope that you can join friends and family for a weekend of excitement and the unexpected! ;)
